The mayor of Baqershahr, one of the satellite town of Rey city, stating that the implementation of the waste separation plan at the source is one of the main priorities of the city management, said: “Currently, an average of seven thousand and 500 kilograms of dry waste is collected daily in this town.”

In an interview with IRNA on Tuesday, Saeed Ostadfaraj stated, “Baqershahr Municipality, by allocating 270 municipal waste separation tanks in public places of this city, was able to collect 6,075 kg of dry and recyclable waste during the first three months of this year”Pointing out that the collection of dry waste in the first three months of this year has increased by about 200,000 kg compared to last year, he added, “Increasing the number of dry waste collection tanks and creating a proper culture among the people has made this important.” Ostadfaraj reminded, “The area covered by dry waste collection in Baqershahr is 44 square kilometers, and the tonnage of recyclable dry waste in 2011 was 5,302 kg per day, 159 tons per month and about 1,909 tons per year, which has been processed in 2 primary separation stations by twenty five people.”Pointing out that in 2020, due to the outbreak of Covid 19 disease, the collection of dry waste decreased by about 30% compared to 2020, he said, ” This year, with the installation of municipal waste separation tanks in municipal places, including cultural centers, stadiums, schools, offices, and banks, we are witnessing an increase in the collection of dry waste at the source.”Ostadfaraj stated, “Training and encouraging families and promoting the culture of citizenship in order to separate waste from the source is one of the first steps in municipal waste management, and given the importance of the issue, we all need to work together to organize this important issue.” In the end, the mayor of Baqershahr asked the citizens to refrain from delivering waste and dry waste to strange people seriously in order to manage the waste in this city properly while separating dry and wet and recyclable waste, such as paper, plastic, into the natural cycle.”Baqershahr, with a population of about 60,000 people, is one of the suburban cities of Tehran, which is located on the road of Tehran-Qom and in the protected area of Rey City.”
