6,000 billion tomans is the turnover of the book industry in the country

The managing director of Iran Book and Literature House said, “The 6-thousand-billion-Toman financial turnover in the book and publishing industry of the country indicates the greatness and breadth of this field.”

According to IRNA, Ali Ramezani, in a joint meeting with book and publishing industry activists in Isfahan province at the General Directorate of Islamic Culture and Guidance on Saturday evening, added, “This figure shows that we are facing a large and majestic industry and should have a comprehensive look at it.”
Referring to the importance of promoting book reading, he said, “Culture-building in this field helps to develop its market; and as a result, publishers, booksellers and all elements of the industry will also benefit from its revenues.”
Stating that over one hundred thousand books are published annually in the country, the managing director of the House of Books and Literature of Iran clarified, “However, the reprint of the book has low statistics, which is very low compared to the number of published books.”
Ramezani added, “The country’s officials should introduce books and promote book reading more than before so that we can see citizens turning to books and reading.”
Emphasizing the balanced development of the publishing and book industry in the country, he added, “This requires the agreement of the book activists themselves, including guilds, unions, bookstores and publishers.”
Emphasizing the need for more cooperation of all executive bodies for the prosperity of book reading and the development of this industry, the managing director of Iran Book and Literature House said, “For example, Isfahan Municipality can try to promote the book fair and its prosperity as much as possible.”
The Director General of Islamic Culture and Guidance of Isfahan also said in this meeting, “The first virtual book exhibition of the province was opened today and will continue until December 17 of this year on the website of the House of Books and Literature of Iran at www.ketab.ir.”
Hojjatoleslam Ramazan Ali Motamedi stated, “This exhibition, having over 103 thousand books, has provided a good opportunity for purchasing and reading books.”
According to IRNA, the joint meeting of book and publishing industry activists with the director of the Iran Book and Literature House was held this evening in the meeting hall of the General Directorate of Islamic Culture and Guidance in Isfahan.”
In this meeting, issues such as paper supply, how to set up exhibitions, pricing and discounts were raised as challenging issues in this field by the people attending the meeting.
Currently, there are 472 printing houses in all fields, 357 book publishers and more than 310 bookstores in Isfahan province.
